ZAO “Vtorchermet”  is one of the oldest company in the North-West part of Russia, its main business lain in scrap purchasing & processing. Company has achieved its leading position in amounts of scrap purchasing as far back as during the Soviet period, under the active “Vtormet” system. Today, it is the leading player on the market of ferrous scrap metal in the Northwest Region. Its well-thought financial policy, faith in a new economic conception, continuously increasing professional level of its personnel, extensive production facilities, and high-grade professional equipment ensure ZAO Vtorchermet’s leading position in the industry and allow it to maintain stability under virtually any economic conditions.

Since 1994 scrap export was permitted ZAO “Vtorchermet” has been reoriented the scrap flows. During the last several years, Company has been exporting scrap to Turkey, Spain, South-East Asia (China, Korea, and Malaysia). In 2006 the sales volume reached 1 million 67 thousand tones of secondary raw materials.
Today the amount of foreign trade operations of the Company is still high. According to the Customs Statistic part of Vtorchermet’s scrap export from the Saint Petersburg’s ports is 6,61 % and 6,44 % of all scrap export from Russia.

From the beginning of 2007, Vtorchermet Jsc belongs to Severstal Corporation and operates under Severstal - Resource Group management along with the other raw assets of the Group.
